Every year an exercise called Frisian Flag is held at Leeuwarden Airbase in the Netherlands. Jets from several countries participate in this exercise which makes it en excellent opportunity to catch some rare birds.

Below are a few of my shots of April 20th, 2012. I hope you enjoy!!

Rafale in HDR

Just to try something different for a change, I processed this picture of a banking Aronavale Rafale with HDR-software. High dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than current standard digital imaging techniques or photographic methods. This wide dynamic range allows HDR images to represent more accurately the range of intensity levels found in real scenes, ranging from direct sunlight to faint starlight, and is often captured by way of a plurality of differently exposed pictures of the same subject matter (source: Wikipedia).

Scans of pictures from the 90′s

In the 90′s we used to travel to former East Germany whenever a Russian regiment was to be retired from it’s base, back to storage fields in Russia. Also we went to the Ukraine to take pictures of aircraft that were rare in Western Europe. Below are a few scans of pictures made in those days. Stay tuned for more!

Testing new camera at Schiphol

Bought myself e new (second hand) Canon EOS 50d, which of course had to be tested. So I did on december 29th, 2011.

Luchtmachtdagen Leeuwarden

Op vrijdag 16 september 2011 was ik aanwezig op de Luchtmachtdagen op de vliegbasis Leeuwarden. We werden getrakteerd op prachtig weer en zo mogelijk nog mooiere vliegtuigen zodat het een memorabele dag werd.

Warbird Fly in Lelystad

Op 20 augustus 2011 was ik in de gelegenheid om op vliegveld Lelystad bij het Aviodrome de zogenaamde vintage fly-in te fotograferen. Helaas vile de opkomst van vliegtuigen een beetje tegen, maar wat er was, kon wel mooi worden vastgelegd.
