Hi, welcome to my page on aviation photography. My name is Marcel de Jong, I’m from the Netherlands.
I’ve been taking pictures from aircraft ever since I was 11 years old, back in 1978.
I started my career at Soesterberg Airbase, which was close to my home at the time (30 minutes by bicycle). In those days I mainly used black & white film and sometimes slides. Nowadays I have joined the digital era with my Canon EOS 50d.
I’m married to Agaath and we have two kids: Thijmen (2007) and Elisa (2010).
Katsudo Kenpo is the reason my Aviation Photography site is called as it is. The name was already there, and the meaning (Katsudo is Action) suited both my activities in Kenpo and the way I like my photographs.
Both Kenpo and Aviation urge me to travel as much as I can, although family expansion did cause for me to stay at home a little more.
At this moment I use the following camera’s and lenses:
- Canon EOS 70d
- Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L USM
- Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM
- Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
- Canon EOS 350d (backup)
